European Dancehouse Network
Lavanderia a Vapore, as an Artistic Residency Centre, has been a member of EDN – European Dancehouse Network since July 2018. EDN is a network for trust and cooperation between European dancehouses sharing a common vision regarding the development of dance art across borders. Its key mission is to cooperate in securing a sustainable future for the dance sector and to improve relevance for diverse dance among society.
The important acknowledgement for Lavanderia a Vapore came after three years of intense activities, promoted by Piemonte dal Vivo, with its unique model of governance and innovative planning. Lavanderia is currently – within the network – the second centre acknowledged in Italy, together with CSC – Centro per la Scena Contemporanea (Bassano del Grappa).
As an EDN member, Lavanderia a Vapore is called upon to work on different aspects: enhancing art management skills, offering team teaching and mentoring; sustaining a continuous audience education program and sharing tools for audience development; supporting a platform for intercultural exchange, developing joint projects; using projects to address cultural themes whilst integrating minorities to encourage active cultural participation; campaign and conducting best practice model testing, offering support and providing information; and finally, promoting exchanges for artistic development.
European Network of Cultural Centers
The ENCC represents over 5,000 cultural centres throughout Europe, with programmes and activities that aim to empower them and their communities.
The European Network of Cultural Centres was founded in 1994 to promote dialogue and cooperation between social-oriented cultural centres in Europe.
In the 2000s it became a “network of networks”, before gradually opening membership to local networks in direct interaction with communities and citizens. It also includes individual organisations and professionals as associated members.
Today, the ENCC reaches about 5,000 cultural venues in 25 countries, with very diverse structures, practices and audiences.
The ENCC’s main action lines are capacity building, networking and advocacy. We organise meetings, conferences, trainings and staff exchanges, participate in research and data-gathering, create tools and publications, and connect our members with other actors from the cultural sector. Empowering cultural centres’ communities is our priority.
Lavanderia a Vapore has been a member of ENCC since September 2020.
