Dejarse quieto flotar is an exercise in intimacy. A project that explores the question of language, both as a muscle and as a system of communication and puts it in tension with the figure of pantomime. How could a body without language, a gesture without meaning, free the mime from his task, interrupting—in the very act of miming—his relationship with an end, thus opening a crack in language? How can we unleash the power of passivity, giving body to the ghost, hands to the jellyfish, tongue to the mime, in order to be in the world, still, calm, floating?
Joaquín Colllado is a Spanish performer, artist, and curator. Since 2017, he has been developing his own choreographic practice, exploring ways to blur the boundaries between dance categories and genres and the body. He studied dance analysis and writing in Paris and completed a master’s degree in Construction and Representation of Cultural Identities in Barcelona. As a creator, he has been involved with organizations such as La Caldera and Graner, both creative hubs in Barcelona, the Mercat de les flors in Barcelona, La Briqueterie and the Théâtre de Vanves in France, the Dansa-Valencia festival, LealLav in Tenerife, and others. As a dancer, he has worked with Björn Safsten, La Veronal, and La Coja Dansa, among others. For the past five years, he has directed the Paisaje festival in his hometown (Villamalea–Albacete). He is currently in the process of founding his own residency and creation space in Castilla-La Mancha.
