MANY LIFETIMES | Spring Rolls

Many Lifetimes is a durational poetic dance installation featuring a group of artists. It is a calmly paced work, in which movement delicately transforms from one artist to the next in hypnotic solos. On a mirrored surface in the Certosa park, Many Lifetimes continues choreographer Alexandrina Hemsley’s exploration of the fluctuating cycles of love, loss, and reconciliation.

The team has significant experience in the arts and health; Yewande is the Yoruba middle name of Alexandrina Hemsley, handed down from her great-great-grandmother who escaped from slave traders. It means “mother has returned.” Intergenerational nurturing and survival are the ways in which Y103 upholds the values of care and connection.
