Daniele Ninarello’s new creation takes shape from a profound reflection on the crisis that stems from the disconnect between the individual and the community. A widespread condition, in which it is difficult to perceive a sense of belonging to a larger body, while the need to rediscover a shared “us” remains alive — underground but insistent. Contrary to many of the dynamics that dominate our time, Ninarello chooses not to oppose the self to the community, but to investigate the link between them, seeking the transformative potential contained in this relationship. RISE stems from this impulse: a physical and poetic exploration that stages the possibility of welcoming the other, allowing their diversity to pass through us, change us, open us up. It is in the act of welcoming otherness that a new collective voice can emerge, capable of generating new forms of presence, coexistence and listening. A dance that does not impose, but opens up: the body becomes a shared space, a place of encounter and awakening. In RISE, simple gestures such as rocking, pushing and swinging activate a choreographic system where bodies harmonise like instruments in a shared score and the dance develops like a collective wave, nourished by their rhythmic musicality and driven by Dan Kinzelman’s live soundscape. The result is a vibrant “us”, a choral presence that celebrates the vital force of relationships.
Daniele Ninarello has performed for several internationally renowned choreographers, including Bruno Listopad, Barbara Altissimo, Meekers Uitgesprokendans, Virgilio Sieni, and Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui. He has danced alongside musicians and composers such as Kai Gleusteen, Ezio Bosso, Dan Kinzelman, Francesco Romano, Xenia Ensemble, and Adriano De Micco. In 2021, he launched the interdisciplinary project “Perpendicolare” with singer-songwriter Cristina Donà. He was an associate artist at Lavanderia a Vapore from 2018 to 2020. His productions include “Rock Rose Wow” (2013), winner of Movin’Up, Bando Teatri del Tempo Presente; “KUDOKU”, which debuted at the Venice Biennale Dance 10 International Contemporary Dance Festival and was selected for the international project AEROWAVES TWENTY17 – NID Platform 2017 and for the Rencontres Choreographiques – Seine Saint Denis; “Pastorale”, a creative project selected for the Residance XL initiative of the Rete Anticorpi, presented at the Théatre de la Ville in Paris in 2024, and “Healing Together” (2024).
As a choreographer, Ninarello has been invited to create works for, among others, the EgriBianco Danza company; the MM Contemporary Dance Company in Reggio Emilia; third-year students of Modern Dance Theatre at the University of the Arts in Amsterdam; for the European project “Performing Gender Dancing in your shoes” at the invitation of Gender Bender, Bologna; and for the Teatro Sperimentale in Tirana, in collaboration with the IIC in Tirana.
With the CodedUomo Association, founded in 2013, he has created, in addition to his own productions, training projects aimed at professionals, amateurs, local communities, young people and teenagers.
