SQUARE – Installation Intéractive

Born in the spaces that once belonged to the most famous psychiatric hospital in Italy, innovation is one of Lavanderia a Vapore’s watchword. Pursuant to its experimental vocation, the creation of SQUARE – Installation Intéractive – a site-specific and holophonic installation which offers to citizens a peculiar vision, or rather listening, of the space explored – has found here an optimal location. The composer and performer Lorenzo Bianchi Hoesch will spend ten days of residency in Collegno (between May and June, 2021), devoting himself to collect the testimonies of those who formerly lived or worked inside the venues of Lavanderia. This phase of field research will be followed by the creation of a real digital infrastructure, produced in summer at the Centre Pompidou (Paris). The device presentation will take place during the usual dance season opening, on September, accompanied – for the occasion – by a live performance with Michele Di Stefano. The audio, translating the memorial diegesis into an highly contaminated flow, remains accesible in the future, via smartphone, for use by visitors. Ultimately, a project with a wide impact on the community and territory, which aims to enhance the spaces of the former laundry of Collegno asylum and, at the same time, the environmental context that frames it, the Certosa Park.

Lorenzo Bianchi Hoesch is a composer and a performer working on new electro–acoustic sounds. He composed music for live performances, albums, installations, theater, dance and received commissions from institutions such as Groupe de Recherche Musical (GRM), Biennale di Venezia, Opera of Gothenburg, Ballet National de Marseille, Santarcangelo Festival, Roma Europa, Ater Balletto. He performed worldwide in Europe, Japan, Indonesia, USA. Besides the collaboration with mk and other artists, he makes research at Ircam/Centre Pompidou in Paris, where he currently lives and works. Since 2004 he is also a lecturer in multimedia composition at Franche-Comté University in France, and teaches at the conservatory of Montbeliard, France.
